CHANDIGARH, Dec. 11 — World Cup winners Yuvraj Singh and Harmanpreet Kaur received a major honour on Thursday as stands at the New Chandigarh Stadium were named after the two cricket icons.

Yuvraj, the player of the tournament in India’s 2011 ODI World Cup victory, and Harmanpreet, who recently led India to its first-ever Women’s World Cup title, attended the ceremony alongside family, friends and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Ahead of the second T20 International against South Africa, Yuvraj was seen joining the Indian squad on the field, offering a pep talk to the players in a pre-match huddle.

The New Chandigarh Stadium already features a pavilion named after former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj’s long-time teammate. With Thursday’s unveiling, Harmanpreet’s name now appears on the opposite stand, completing a trio of Punjab’s most celebrated cricketers recognised at the venue.
