CHANDIGARH, June 5: In a bid to strengthen its technical infrastructure and improve response time to power-related complaints, Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) has inducted 100 outsourced personnel into its Fault Response Teams (FRTs).

The newly added teams have been strategically deployed across sub-divisions 5, 8, 9, and 10, enabling CPDL to decentralize its operations and quicken on-ground intervention. The move is aimed at minimizing power outages and resolving equipment failures with greater efficiency.

“These teams are specifically tasked with addressing faults and consumer complaints in a timely manner,” said CPDL Director Arun Kumar Verma. “With their induction, we aim to reduce inconvenience to consumers and raise the standard of our service delivery.”

Each unit is equipped with essential tools, including a boom ladder, one utility truck, and two motorcycles, to swiftly handle a wide range of technical issues. Their localised deployment is expected to result in faster fault detection, repair, and overall improved operational efficiency.

According to CPDL, the FRTs will play a crucial role in identifying and resolving distribution network faults, especially during emergency breakdowns. Verma added, “This initiative is part of our broader strategy to enhance responsiveness and significantly reduce downtime.”

The addition of these 100 team members marks a significant expansion of CPDL’s ground workforce and represents a proactive step toward modernizing Chandigarh’s power infrastructure.
