11-year-old boy dies while playing with explosive in Daria

Chandigarh, Oct 7: An 11-year-old boy died after an explosive went off while he was playing with it in Daria village on Sunday. Police said the explosive substance had reportedly been purchased from a shop in Ramgarh, Haryana.

According to police, the boy was playing with his friends when the explosive suddenly went off, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to GMCH-32, where doctors declared him brought dead.

A police team from the Industrial Area police station reached the spot and collected samples for forensic examination. Preliminary investigation suggested that the children had bought the material, believed to be inflammable crackers, from an unidentified shopkeeper in Ramgarh.

An FIR has been registered under Sections 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substances) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC, along with relevant sections of the Explosives Act.

A police official said, “We have identified the area where the explosive was bought and are trying to trace the shopkeeper who sold it to the children. Strict action will be taken.”

The tragic incident has sparked concern among locals, who demanded strict monitoring of sale of explosive and inflammable materials to minors.
