Ayodhya, 30 October 2024: In a record-breaking Deepotsav celebration, Ayodhya illuminated its banks along the Sarayu River with over 28 lakh earthen lamps, surpassing the planned 25 lakh and setting a new world record. The mesmerizing display, which cast a golden glow over the holy city, drew visitors from around the world to witness its spiritual and cultural splendor.
“Every effort has been made to imbue this year’s Deepotsav with grandeur and divinity,” said Uttar Pradesh Minister Jaiveer Singh, noting the significance of the event following the recent Pran Pratishtha of the Ram mandir in Ayodhya.
The festival’s rich cultural showcase featured performances by artists from six nations—Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Indonesia—as well as a Ram Leela presentation from Uttarakhand. Artists from across India also took the stage, celebrating the traditional essence of the city.
Earlier in the day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath joined the festivities by performing an ‘aarti’ and ceremoniously pulling a chariot used in the Ramayan-themed performances. Adding to the spectacle, 18 intricate tableaux crafted by Saket Mahavidyalaya, along with 11 by the Information Department and seven by the Tourism Department, depicted iconic scenes from the Ramcharitmanas, such as the Bal Kand, Ayodhya Kand, and Lanka Kand.
This grand Deepotsav, infused with Ayodhya’s sacred traditions, captivated audiences and set a remarkable milestone in the city’s cultural celebrations.
