Chandigarh, 8 February 2025: The UT Department of School Education promoted 72 trained graduate teachers (TGTs) across 18 subjects on Friday, marking the first round of promotions in four years.
This list cleared the pending backlog since 2018, including 17 scheduled caste (SC) candidates and six persons with disabilities (PwD), while 49 teachers from the general category were also promoted.
Earlier in January, the department issued appointment letters to 68 nursery teachers (NTTs), and direct recruits for lecturer positions are set to receive their appointment letters on February 11.
UT Director of School Education Harsuhinderpal Singh Brar stated that promotions are vital for both individual teachers and the overall educational system.
“They promote a cycle of improvement, retention, and excellence in teaching,” he said, adding that the department has initiated long-overdue promotions in line with the administrator’s directions.
