Chandigarh, 13 November 2024: A group of 763 Sikh pilgrims will travel to Pakistan tomorrow to celebrate the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has completed arrangements and distributed passports with visas to the devotees ahead of the journey.

SGPC Secretary Pratap Singh stated that the passports of 2,244 applicants were submitted to the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi, but only 763 visas were granted.

“The refusal of visas to 1,481 pilgrims is unfortunate,” he remarked. The group will be led by SGPC member Gurnam Singh Jasal, with Bibi Sharanjit Kaur as the deputy leader. Palwinder Singh and Gurmeet Singh will oversee the pilgrimage as general managers.

The distribution of passports took place at the SGPC office today, attended by Deputy Secretary Harbhajan Singh Wakta, Superintendent Nishan Singh, and Yatra In-charge Palwinder Singh.
