Amritsar, March 7 — The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Friday removed Giani Raghbir Singh from his position as Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib in a meeting held at Teja Singh Samundri Hall, Sri Harmandir Sahib. The committee also terminated the services of Giani Sultan Singh, Jathedar of Sri Keshgarh Sahib.
Giani Kuldeep Singh has been appointed as the new Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, while Baba Tek Singh Dhanaula will take over as Jathedar of Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib.
Despite speculation, the SGPC did not discuss the resignation of its chief, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami.
Dhami had reaffirmed his decision to step down a day earlier after meeting Giani Raghbir Singh in Amritsar, stating he would not reconsider his resignation.
