JALANDHAR, May 24 — Punjab Police on Friday uncovered a cross-border narco-trafficking network with the seizure of 5.5 kilograms of heroin from two men in Jalandhar. The breakthrough follows a separate seizure of 5 kg heroin just a day earlier in the same district.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Vikramjeet Singh, a resident of Bahadur Ke village in Ferozepur, and Lovepreet Singh from Nawan Salemshah in Fazilka. Police said their arrest stemmed from disclosures made by Rinku Singh of Muhar Khewa, Fazilka, who was brought from Faridkot Central Jail on a production warrant.

“All three accused have links with Pakistan and are involved in cross-border drug trafficking using drones along the international border,” said Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur Randhawa. “During questioning, Vikramjeet Singh confessed to possessing 5.5 kilograms of heroin.”

Randhawa said the operation has dealt a significant blow to the region’s narco-gangster network.
“This breakthrough choked the local supply chain of drugs in the region and hit the local narco-gangster network,” she added.

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
