New Delhi, Oct 26: China on Monday defended its military presence along the disputed boundary with India, characterizing its border patrols as routine operations to safeguard territorial sovereignty. Addressing a news briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that Beijing strictly abides by bilateral agreements and maintains communication through established diplomatic and military channels to keep border regions stable.
The response follows statements from India’s Ministry of External Affairs, where spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that border stability is disrupted whenever Chinese forces diverge from established patrolling patterns. The MEA comments came after Indo-Tibetan Border Police Director General Shatrujeet Kapoor reported ongoing face-offs between troops at multiple points in Arunachal Pradesh.
Guo expressed hope that India would work in the same direction to implement shared understandings through concrete actions. Indian officials reiterated that maintaining peace and tranquility along the Line of Actual Control remains essential for restoring broader bilateral relations, with both nations relying on official mechanisms to prevent misunderstandings along the border.
