Patna, May 25: In a dramatic development, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday expelled his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav from the party for six years and declared that he was severing all family ties with him.
In a strongly worded post on X, Lalu Prasad wrote:
“Ignoring moral values in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice. The activities, public conduct, and irresponsible behavior of the eldest son are not in accordance with our family values and traditions… Therefore, I remove him from the party and family. From now on, he will not have any role of any kind in the party and family.”
The action comes a day after a Facebook post — allegedly from Tej Pratap’s account — claimed he was “in a relationship” with a young woman. The post triggered widespread backlash online, with many users recalling his 2018 marriage to Aishwarya Rai, granddaughter of former Bihar CM Daroga Prasad Rai.
Tej Pratap, 37, responded late Saturday night, claiming his account was hacked:
“My social media platform was hacked and my photographs were edited wrongfully,” he wrote on X.
Past Marital Discord
Tej Pratap’s marriage to Aishwarya had also made headlines, not just for the lavish ceremony but for the controversy that followed. Within months, Aishwarya left his residence alleging mistreatment, and a bitter public fallout ensued between her and the Yadav family.
With this announcement, Tej Pratap stands politically isolated and personally disowned by the RJD patriarch. The party has not issued any formal statement beyond Lalu’s post as of now.
