Amritsar, June 7: In a well-coordinated intelligence-driven operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) along with the Anti-Narcotics Task Force arrested three youths and seized six pistols near the Khalsa College area on Friday evening, officials said on Saturday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Rajan alias Raja of Amritsar, Paramjit Singh alias Pamma of Ghanupur, and Dinesh Kumar alias Nishu of Chheharta. The recovered weapons include two Glock 19X pistols (made in Austria), two .30 bore pistols (including an Italian Beretta and a Baretta USA), one .30 bore Star Mark pistol, and one Beretta Gardone VT APX .30 bore pistol.

According to BSF authorities, all pistols were wrapped in yellow adhesive tape with iron rings attached, suggesting they were smuggled from Pakistan using drones. Alongside the firearms, six magazines, a scooter, a motorcycle, and four mobile phones were also seized.

The operation was conducted following specific intelligence inputs about an arms deal in the vicinity of Khalsa College.

Punjab Police Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that the arrested accused are associates of Jugraj Singh, a notorious gangster currently incarcerated in Goindwal Sahib jail. Preliminary investigations reveal that Jugraj Singh operated the arms racket through his advocate, Munshi. Further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the network and motives behind the smuggling activities.
