Two Killed in Separate Road Accidents in Pinjore

Pinjore, June 20 — Two men lost their lives in separate road accidents in Pinjore on Wednesday, prompting police investigations and the registration of criminal cases.

In the first incident, a pickup van driver from Himachal Pradesh died after a head-on collision with a dumper truck near the Sukhomajri bypass. The deceased was identified as Vivek Mehta, 30, a resident of Kangra who worked as a commercial driver in Baddi.

“He was brought to the civil hospital in critical condition but could not be saved,” said a hospital official. The dumper truck involved in the crash bore a Haryana registration number, police confirmed.

Hours later, a second fatality occurred near Navanagar Ashram, where a speeding tractor-trailer struck a motorcycle. The rider, identified as Shiva, 22, an electrician from Muradabad, Uttar Pradesh, was declared brought dead at a nearby hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the tractor-trailer driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.

“FIRs have been filed under relevant sections in both accidents, and further investigation is underway,” said a police spokesperson.
