AMRITSAR, June 27 — Embattled Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia is facing fresh legal trouble as police prepare to register another FIR against him following a violent confrontation during a recent raid at his residence.
The vigilance team, acting on intelligence that crucial case documents were stored at the property, raided Majithia’s residence earlier this week. The operation, however, quickly descended into chaos after his supporters allegedly attacked the officers and attempted to obstruct the search.
Majithia, already under the shadow of drug-related allegations, is now accused of intimidating officials, engaging in physical confrontation, inciting violence, and conspiring to destroy evidence.
“His supporters were deliberately provoked to halt the search,” a senior officer associated with the investigation said. “They not only tried to block access but physically attacked the team to prevent them from retrieving key documents.”
According to the vigilance department’s complaint, the raided property is directly linked to a major drug trafficking case involving ₹540 crore. The house, sources say, had reportedly served as a hideout for international drug traffickers in the past.
The police are now moving ahead with registering a fresh case against Majithia, who has previously been named in a high-profile drugs investigation. The latest development adds another layer of controversy to the political leader’s already tainted record.
No official comment has yet been made by Majithia or his party.
