Adampur, July 7: Unidentified miscreants hurled petrol bombs at a house in the Gandhi Nagar area of Adampur town in Jalandhar district during the early hours of Monday, police said. The incident, which caused minor property damage, was captured on CCTV cameras installed outside the residence.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Jalandhar Rural) Harvinder Singh Virk, who visited the scene, said police have launched a multi-angle investigation, with a possible extortion link being actively explored.

“We are not ruling out an extortion angle. Multiple teams have been formed to trace and arrest the accused. Their movements are being tracked through CCTV footage,” SSP Virk said.

The house belongs to Parminder Kaur, who lives there with her younger son. Her two other children currently reside abroad. “We noticed shattered glass and burn marks on the iron gate in the morning,” Parminder told police. “When we checked the CCTV footage, it showed unknown individuals throwing petrol bombs at our house.”

Police have begun recording statements from the victims and reviewing additional footage to identify the culprits. No injuries were reported in the incident, but the attack has left residents in the area shaken.

Authorities said enhanced patrolling and surveillance measures are being put in place, as investigations continue.
