KHARAR, July 19 — Aam Aadmi Party leader Anmol Gagan Maan on Saturday resigned as the MLA for Kharar and declared she is leaving public life altogether.

In a letter delivered to Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, the former minister requested that her resignation be accepted “at the earliest.” She offered no explanation for her departure but released a brief statement on X, writing in Punjabi: “My heart is heavy, but I have decided to leave politics. My resignation from the post of MLA to the Speaker should be accepted. My best wishes are with the party. I hope the Punjab government will live up to the expectations of the people.”

Maan, who previously served in the Bhagwant Mann cabinet, thanked party colleagues while confirming she would not seek any future political role. The Speaker’s office said the resignation is under consideration, and an official decision is expected soon.

Once the seat is formally vacated, the Election Commission will need to schedule a by‑election to fill the Kharar constituency.
