Mohali, July 26 — A 30-year-old man was stabbed to death in broad daylight on Friday morning in Balongi village after he objected to a car being wrongly parked outside his house, police said.
The victim, identified as Sarabjit Singh, a local resident and bouncer by profession, was reportedly leaving for work between 9 and 10 am when the altercation occurred. According to police, three men residing in a nearby paying guest (PG) accommodation had parked their vehicle in front of his residence. When Sarabjit confronted them about it, the dispute quickly escalated.
“All three attacked Sarabjit with sharp-edged weapons, inflicting multiple serious injuries,” said Inspector Kulwant Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Balongi police station. “He was rushed to the Mohali civil hospital, but was declared brought dead.”
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants fled the scene immediately following the assault. A post-mortem examination was underway at the time of filing this report.
“We received a call about the incident and reached the spot without delay,” SHO Singh said. “All three accused have been identified and a manhunt is underway. We are reviewing CCTV footage and recording statements from local residents and witnesses to aid the investigation.”
The fatal attack has shocked the local community, with residents expressing outrage over the brutal nature of the assault triggered by a routine dispute. Police said further action would follow based on post-mortem findings and collected evidence.
