Shimla, Aug. 17 — Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday reviewed the situation in rain-hit Mandi, Kullu and Kinnaur districts and directed officials to speed up relief and restoration work.
The chief minister spoke with deputy commissioners of the affected districts and asked them to submit detailed reports on the extent of damage caused by incessant rainfall.
Sukhu instructed district administrations to provide immediate assistance to affected families. “All possible help must reach those in distress, and blocked roads should be restored at the earliest. Relief operations must be intensified,” he said.
Appealing to residents to remain cautious, the chief minister urged people to avoid rivers and streams and to follow advisories issued by local administrations. “The safety of every citizen is the top priority of the state government. We stand firmly with the people in this difficult time,” Sukhu noted.
