Chandigarh, August 27 — The Punjab Government has pressed its entire Cabinet into service across flood-hit districts to coordinate rescue and relief efforts, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann directing ministers to remain in the field until the situation is under control.
Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema said, “Our top priority is to save every life and protect every property.” He held a conference call with the Deputy Commissioners of Sangrur and Mansa to ensure relief supplies and evacuation measures were expedited.
Other Cabinet members, including Harbhajan Singh ETO, Barinder Kumar Goyal, Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, Lal Chand Kataruchak, Laljit Singh Bhullar and Hardeep Singh Mundian, are camping in affected areas such as Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Pathankot and Sultanpur Lodhi.
The government is working in coordination with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and central agencies to boost rescue capacity. Relief measures include evacuation of marooned families, provision of medical care, food, and temporary shelter.
