Gurugram, Sept 1 — After the city recorded 100 mm of rain in just four hours on Monday, the district administration issued a work-from-home advisory and asked schools to shift to online classes for September 2.

The advisory, issued by the Disaster Management Authority, came after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) placed Gurugram under an orange alert, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall on Tuesday.

“In view of the above forecast, all corporate offices and private institutions in the district are advised to guide their employees to work from home; and all schools to conduct online classes on September 2,” the notification stated.

According to officials, the city received 100 mm of rainfall between 3 pm and 7 pm on Monday, inundating several low-lying areas and leading to traffic snarls. Emergency teams have been placed on alert to respond to waterlogging and other rain-related disruptions.
