CHANDIGARH, Sept. 2 — All schools in Chandigarh will remain closed on Wednesday, September 3, as the city continues to face inclement weather, the Director of School Education announced in a press release Tuesday.
The order comes a day after schools were also kept shut on Tuesday due to heavy rainfall across the region. Officials said the decision was taken considering the safety of students.
“The situation arising from the rains has disrupted normal functioning, and therefore, schools will remain closed tomorrow as well,” the Director of School Education mentioned in the release.
Several parts of the city witnessed waterlogging and traffic disruption after continuous showers, prompting the administration to extend the closure. The education department noted that further updates will be shared depending on weather conditions.
