Patiala, 14 September: The Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office Punjab has clarified that the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has not yet been announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Refuting reports in a section of the media, a spokesperson said such news is “speculative in nature and should be ignored.”
He added that while preparatory activities are underway across the country, including in Punjab—such as comparing the previous SIR rolls with the latest electoral roll—the final decision on the schedule rests with the ECI.
“The Commission will consider all relevant factors before announcing the schedule in any state. Media friends are requested to avoid speculative reporting on this matter,” the spokesperson said.
