Quetta, Sept 30 — A powerful bomb blast ripped through a busy street near the Frontier Constabulary (FC) headquarters in Quetta on Tuesday, killing at least 10 people and injuring 19 others, police said.

The explosion struck Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province in the afternoon, with CCTV footage circulating on social media showing the moment the road was rocked by the blast.

Authorities quickly moved the injured to nearby facilities. “Nineteen people injured in the blast were brought to the Civil Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department and the Trauma Centre,” provincial Health Department Media Coordinator Dr. Waseem Baig told reporters.

In response, the Balochistan Health Department declared a state of emergency in all hospitals across the city. “All consultants, doctors, pharmacists, staff nurses, and paramedical staff have been directed to remain present in the hospitals,” Health Secretary Mujeebur Rehman said in a statement.

Officials noted that the death toll could rise as several of the injured remain in critical condition. Security forces cordoned off the area, and investigations into the nature of the blast were underway at the time of reporting.
