ROHTAK, Oct 14 — An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Haryana Police was found dead at his home on Ladhaut-Dhamar Road in Rohtak on Tuesday. Police said the officer, identified as Sandeep Kumar, allegedly shot himself with his service revolver. A note was reportedly recovered from the scene, though officials have not yet confirmed its contents.

Soon after the incident, a video purportedly recorded by Sandeep surfaced on social media, in which he accused several police officials of corruption and harassment. In the clip, Sandeep can be heard praising Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Singh Kapur and former Rohtak Superintendent of Police (SP) Narendra Bijarniya, calling them “honest officers.”

However, he blamed certain officials posted at the IGP office in Rohtak for “spreading corruption and indulging in caste-based discrimination.” He alleged that these officers harassed honest personnel and created a toxic environment within the force.

The late officer also mentioned senior IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar, who had recently died allegedly by suicide in Chandigarh. Puran Kumar, in his purported note, had accused the same top officers—DGP Kapur and Bijarniya—of caste bias and harassment.

In his video, Sandeep said he was inspired by freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and that he did not fear anyone. “My sacrifice is intended to awaken the people and the nation,” he stated.

Rohtak SP Surender Singh Bhoria described Sandeep as a “hardworking and honest employee.” “We reached the spot soon after receiving the information. It’s an unfortunate incident. The forensic team has been called in, and further details will emerge as the investigation progresses,” Bhoria said.

Police officials have initiated an inquiry into the matter, while the video continues to circulate widely on social media.
