Chandigarh, November 11 — The Haryana Police on Tuesday said its Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two wanted members of the Rohit Godara gang who had been absconding for nearly a year. The accused — Naresh Kumar and Sanjay, alias Sanjeev — both residents of Saidpur village in Narnaul, were traced and taken into custody as part of the state-wide crackdown “Operation Trackdown.”
According to police, the duo had launched a murderous attack on a rival gang member, Amit from Surani in Mahendragarh district, inside the Narnaul court premises on December 5, 2024. “Both accused were evading arrest since the incident and frequently changing their locations,” a police spokesperson said.
Sanjay has 10 criminal cases registered against him, while Naresh faces four FIRs. “They are involved in organised crime, attempt to murder, and illegal possession of weapons,” the spokesperson added.
Operation Trackdown, launched on November 5, has led to the arrest of 209 criminals and 1,173 other accused till Tuesday, police said. On November 10 alone, 48 criminals and 179 other accused were apprehended across districts.
The ongoing 16-day operation, which runs till November 20, aims to locate and jail fugitives linked to recent shooting incidents in the state. District police units have been instructed to identify and act on lists of top offenders within their jurisdictions.
DGP O.P. Singh had earlier directed all district officers to ensure swift arrests of absconding suspects in gun-related crimes. “Those evading the law should be behind bars without delay,” Singh noted in his directive
