PATIALA, November 23 — Two alleged shooters linked to the Bambiha Gang were arrested by Patiala Police after a brief encounter near Raungla village on Bhadson road on Sunday afternoon, officials said. Police recovered two pistols, 10 live cartridges and a motorcycle without a registration number from them.

Patiala SSP Varun Sharma said the arrests followed a specific input about the movement of the suspects. He identified the two as Harpreet Singh alias Makhan of Saifdipur village in Patiala district, and Gautam Badshah from Nabha.

According to police, the encounter unfolded when the team, led by SP (Investigation) Gurbans Bains, attempted to stop the duo. “When asked to surrender, the two accused opened fire at the police party and fired five shots,” Sharma said. “The cops, showing utmost restraint, responded in retaliation and shot both of them on their lower body.”

The injured men were taken to Government Rajindra Hospital for treatment, officials said. The SSP added that their interrogation will begin once their medical condition stabilises. “Both had many cases under the Arms Act registered at different police stations of Punjab,” he noted.

Police say further investigation is underway to determine whether the weapons seized were used in other violent crimes. The SSP stated that more arrests may follow as the probe progresses.
