CHANDIGARH, Dec 19 — The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) was named India’s best health technology assessment institute for the second year in a row, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced on Friday.
The award was presented at the national-level ARISE 2025 conclave held at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi by Prof VK Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, and Dr Rajiv Bahl, Director-General of the Indian Council of Medical Research and Secretary, Department of Health Research.
PGIMER Director Vivek Lal praised the institute’s work, saying, “Our policy-relevant research continues to guide national health strategies and contributes to improving health outcomes across India.” Prof Arun Kumar Aggarwal highlighted plans to expand advanced training in health economics and health technology assessment.
The recognition is driven by the HTA Resource Hub at the Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, which has cemented PGIMER’s leadership in the field. Last year, the institute received similar acclaim at the ICMR–DHR Health Summit.
