Chandigarh/Jalandhar, 13 October 2024: Jalandhar police have made a major progress in an armed robbery case by arresting a suspect and recovering illegal weapons.
Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma informed that the incident began when Surjit Thakur, a resident of Bhupinder Nagar in Maksudan, lodged a complaint on August 31, 2024.
In the complaint, Thakur stated that while he was transporting ₹2 lakh in cash to Patel Nagar, he was approached by three unidentified robbers in a car around 2 PM.
One of the assailants brandished a pistol and threatened Thakur, ultimately stealing ₹40,000 from him.
Following the incident, police registered an FIR under Sections 309(4) and 3(5) of the BNS at Police Station Division No. 1, Jalandhar.
In response to the complaint, the police launched an investigation that led to a raid in Sheetal Nagar, near Ram Janki Nagar.
During this operation, they arrested one of the accused, identified as Pankaj, son of Shukradas.
Authorities recovered a 315 bore country pistol and two live cartridges from Pankaj.
However, another suspect, Ashu, remains at large.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to gather more information about the robbery and any potential connections between the suspects.
