Chandigarh, Nov 4: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, along with party leaders R P Singh and Kewal Singh Dhillon, addressed the “Zakhm 84” conclave on Wednesday, raising direct questions regarding the 1984 anti-Sikh violence and calling for public accountability.
Speaking on the Congress party’s rally in Sangrur, Prasad maintained that historical statements made by past leadership following the events of 1984 required clear answers, challenging Opposition leaders to address these matters publicly.
During the conclave, BJP speakers highlighted the ongoing judicial process surrounding the 1984 cases, stating that key convictions and the formation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) were achieved through sustained legal efforts and victim advocacy. Party leaders asserted that past administrations failed to take prompt action against those named in commissions of inquiry, while reaffirming their commitment to supporting the victims’ families in their pursuit of justice through the legal system.
