Chandigarh, Feb 3: Senior officials from the Chandigarh Education Department uncovered various deficiencies during a surprise assessment of local government schools to evaluate ground-level conditions and infrastructure.

Secretary of School Education Prerna Puri and Director of School Education Nitish Singla led the inspections at Government Model High Schools in Dhanas, specifically targeting sites RC-1, RC-2, and RC-3. The team scrutinized classrooms, playgrounds, and sanitation facilities while checking the availability of clean drinking water for students.

The visit revealed significant issues, such as crumbling building structures and non-functional water coolers. School heads received a strict 15-day deadline to resolve these problems.

“The heads/principals of the schools concerned were directed to ensure rectification of the deficiencies within 15 days, failing which personal accountability would be fixed,” an official statement noted regarding the visit.

The administration took time to speak with staff and students to better understand resource needs and academic hurdles. This hands-on approach aimed to review how resources are currently utilized and how student welfare can be improved in the Dhanas cluster.
