Chandigarh, Feb 5: Chandigarh is gearing up for its premier floral event as the Municipal Corporation prepares to auction 30 stalls for the Rose Festival starting February 20. The three-day event in Sector 16 will feature a wide collection of garden-related merchandise, though the civic body has maintained a firm stance against the sale of eatables at these exhibition points.

The allotment process involves an open auction where successful bidders can showcase items such as lawn furniture, paintings, floral arrangements, and garden tools. The MC mentioned that the primary goal is to provide a platform for artisans and nursery experts to connect with the public.

“All stall holders will also be required to comply with rules, regulations and any prohibitory orders issued by the civic body for the festival,” the administration stated.

Potential exhibitors must provide a deposit of Rs 50,000 to participate in the upcoming auction. The Municipal Corporation has emphasized that the event must remain eco-friendly, prohibiting any materials that could harm the garden’s environment.

“Littering at the venue will not be permitted, and no damage to the surrounding area will be allowed under any circumstances,” the MC noted in its guidelines.

By enforcing a ban on flex banners and plastic, the city aims to keep the festival’s focus on natural beauty and sustainability. The event will conclude on February 22, with thousands of visitors expected to attend the festivities.
