Ludhiana, Feb 13: The Ludhiana police have launched a manhunt for a truck driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a fellow officer on Friday. The victim, identified as Tarsem Singh, was a dedicated member of the force serving at the Ludhiana court complex.
The fatal encounter took place near a girls’ college at approximately 5:30 am. Singh was performing his daily morning routine when the rashly driven truck hit him and sped away from the location. The force of the collision resulted in catastrophic injuries, and bystanders noted that Singh was left in a critical state on the pavement for a long duration.
Emergency responders eventually reached the site and transported the body for medical examination. Local police confirmed that the search for the perpetrator is a top priority, with checkpoints established throughout the district.
“The traffic police at all intersections in the city are on high alert to apprehend the driver,” an officer from Police Division 8 noted.
Investigators are focusing on digital evidence to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash. Officials stated that the process of identifying the registration number of the truck is underway through the scrutiny of various security feeds.
“The footage from CCTV is being examined to ensure the person responsible is brought to justice,” the department mentioned.
