Mohali, Feb 14: The Mohali police have initiated a high-level probe after Punjabi actress and singer Himanshi Khurana reported receiving an extortion threat demanding ₹10 crore. The threat, which allegedly originated from a foreign-based individual, has led authorities to heighten security measures for the Kiratpur Sahib-born artist.

According to law enforcement officials, the actress received an email containing a voice note from an individual claiming to be Harry Boxer, an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The sender reportedly threatened the former “Bigg Boss 13” contestant with physical harm if the ransom was not paid.

SP (Investigation) Saurav Jindal stated that the police are currently working to trace the digital footprint and origin of the communication. He noted that the department is taking the matter seriously given the high-profile nature of the target.

“As per the complaint, the email contained a voice note allegedly sent by a foreign-based gangster demanding ₹10 crore as extortion money,” SP Jindal affirmed.

The Sohana police station has registered a formal case under Sections 308(4) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators mentioned that this incident follows a series of similar threats directed at various figures in the entertainment industry, including prominent Bollywood actors and singers.

Khurana, recognized for her work in the film “Sadda Haq” and her appearance on national reality television, filed the complaint immediately after receiving the message. Police sources maintained that specialized teams are analyzing the technical data to identify the location of the sender.

“Further action will be taken in accordance with the law,” the SP declared, adding that the safety of the citizen remains the department’s primary focus.
