Amritsar, Feb 23: Tarlochan Singh, the former Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities and former Rajya Sabha MP, was presented with the prestigious “Guru da Sachiar Sikh” (True Sikh of the Guru) award on Saturday. The honor was bestowed upon him by the Amritsar Vikas Manch (AVM) during a dedicated ceremony held in the holy city.
The proceedings opened with a tribute from Principal Dr. Inderjit Singh Gogoani, who affirmed Singh’s steadfast commitment to his heritage. Dr. Gogoani stated that Singh’s character and conduct have consistently reflected the core values of the faith throughout his long career in public service.
He further declared that Singh’s journey as an active member of the Sikh Students Federation served as a foundation for his life’s work. Leaders at the event maintained that the former MP has served as a bridge between the community and the national platform, always embodying the principles he advocates.
The AVM members asserted that this recognition is a testament to Singh’s integrity. They noted that the title of “Sachiar Sikh” is reserved for those whose lives align closely with the teachings of the Gurus, a standard they affirmed Singh has met through his decades of leadership and advocacy for minority rights.
