Chandigarh, Feb 25: The Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner’s office has auctioned a prime residential property in Sector 9 following orders from the Bombay High Court. The four-kanal house, identified as House No. 341, was seized from its owner, a Punjab-based rice miller, to settle outstanding liabilities reported to be over ₹1,000 crore.

A special team led by Tehsildar Punyadeep executed the eviction drive, which commenced in the morning and concluded late in the evening. Officials stated that the process involved the complete removal of all belongings from the premises before the vacant property was officially transferred to the successful bidder.

The bungalow carries a market valuation estimated at more than ₹50 crore. To ensure the proceedings remained peaceful, a contingent of police personnel remained stationed at the site throughout the day.

“The estate was attached and auctioned under court orders to recover the dues,” a representative from the administration affirmed. The Deputy Commissioner’s office confirmed that all legal formalities were completed on-site before the handover of the residence.
