Moga, March 19: The Punjab government’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna has facilitated specialized cancer treatment for a 98-year-old resident of Moga, ensuring medical care without financial strain. Mukhtiar Kaur, among the oldest beneficiaries of the state health scheme, received chemotherapy-related services and supportive therapy fully covered by her Sehat Card.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh stated that the program aims to provide dignified and timely medical interventions for the state’s most vulnerable citizens. He maintained that the availability of cashless treatment allows families to prioritize recovery over the cost of repeated hospital visits. The Minister affirmed that at an advanced age, having access to such a safety net is critical for maintaining the well-being of the elderly.

The health department reported that the treatment commenced without delay once the Sehat Card was verified at the empanelled hospital. Officials noted that the scheme provides up to ₹10 lakh in annual health coverage per family. Currently, over 9 lakh cards have been issued, allowing residents to access more than 2,300 medical packages across a network of 900 government and private hospitals.

The provincial administration continues to urge citizens to enroll at designated centers to take advantage of these cashless benefits. Dr. Balbir Singh asserted that the initiative, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is transforming the healthcare landscape by removing economic barriers to specialized surgery and long-term care.
