Amritsar, March 31: Authorities have cordoned off the Bhindi Saida police station in Amritsar following an early morning explosion that caused damage to vehicles and triggered a widespread security alert across the border region. While initial official responses were guarded, law enforcement confirmed that a forensic investigation is underway to determine the specific nature of the blast.

According to preliminary reports, two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle reportedly threw an explosive device into the station compound before fleeing the scene. Although no injuries were reported, the force of the explosion damaged several vehicles parked within the premises.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Gurinderpal Singh Nagra stated that the incident was reported by personnel on duty during the early hours of Monday.

“Forensic teams have arrived to collect evidence,” Nagra affirmed. “On-duty personnel informed the control room and senior officers that a minor blast-like sound was heard around 1.45 am.”

The incident follows a pattern of low-intensity attacks targeting police infrastructure in Punjab’s border districts over the last two years. Security agencies have frequently attributed such actions to attempts by cross-border elements to disrupt regional stability.

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring asserted that the recurring nature of these events requires urgent government attention.

“The blast is a matter of grave concern and not an isolated incident,” Warring declared. “Such recurring incidents in border areas are creating an atmosphere of fear. The state government must take immediate steps to restore law and order.”
