Talwandi Sabo, April 12: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday inaugurated a new, state-of-the-art Sub-Divisional Complex in the historic town of Talwandi Sabo, replacing an aging and unsafe structure. The three-storey building, constructed with an investment of approximately ₹6 crore, is designed to serve as a centralized hub for all essential government services.

The Chief Minister, after paying obeisance at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, stated that the facility addresses a long-standing need for the region. He noted that the previous 40-year-old building was in a dilapidated state, creating risks for both staff and visiting citizens. The new complex features 28 rooms and high-speed internet connectivity, housing the SDM and Tehsildar courts, a treasury office, a fard centre, and a modern record room.

“This complex will prove to be a boon for the people of Talwandi Sabo and surrounding villages,” Mann asserted during the dedication ceremony. He maintained that the integration of various departments into a single location would ensure that administrative tasks, such as land registries, are completed with greater speed and transparency. He further stated that modern infrastructure like this is being expanded across Punjab to rectify decades of neglect by previous administrations.

In addition to the infrastructure update, the Chief Minister utilized the visit to announce a significant legislative move. He affirmed that the Punjab Government will introduce the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Bill, 2026, during a special Vidhan Sabha session on April 13. Mann stated that the bill proposes life imprisonment for acts of sacrilege, as current laws do not provide a strong enough deterrent to protect the sanctity of holy scriptures.

Extending his greetings for the upcoming Baisakhi festival, the Chief Minister stated that the occasion is a symbol of Punjabi unity and the egalitarian values established by the Khalsa Panth. He declared that his government remains fully committed to building a society rooted in social equality and communal harmony, while simultaneously upgrading the physical infrastructure required for efficient grassroots governance.
