CHANDIGARH, May 11 — As Punjab has been named the leading state in India for primary and middle school education according to the latest NITI Aayog report, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the state’s focus on upgrading primary systems and modernizing classrooms has produced these nationwide results
The findings indicate that the state has moved ahead of historically top-performing regions, including Kerala, Delhi, and Maharashtra, due to significant improvements in foundational learning and school facilities.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann noted that the performance in core subjects like mathematics and language now exceeds national benchmarks.
“In consonance with the dictum ‘You reap what you sow’, the state has invested sincerely in education,” the Chief Minister affirmed. He declared that the results for Classes 3, 5, and 9 are the direct outcome of four years of continuous work regarding teacher training and modern teaching methods.
According to the report, Punjab’s Class 3 students achieved 82% proficiency in language and 78% in mathematics, while Class 9 students reached 52% in mathematics. These figures place the state ahead of Kerala, which recorded scores of 75%, 70%, and 45% in those respective categories.
The Chief Minister maintained that the state’s digital infrastructure has been a key factor in this success. He asserted that 80.1% of schools in Punjab now feature smart classrooms, and 88.9% have internet access. Additionally, electricity is available in 99.9% of schools, while 99% are equipped with computers.
“Punjab has now become number one in education and will soon become number one in every sector,” Mann affirmed. He stated that the collective efforts of teachers, parents, and education board members have established the state as a national frontrunner.
