Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, May 11 — Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, alongside Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu, participated in the 486th Maharana Pratap Jayanti celebrations held in the historic town of Balachaur. Organized by the Rajput Sabha Balachaur, the event honored the 16th-century Rajput ruler known for his resistance against the Mughal Empire.
The dignitaries began the commemorations by paying homage at the holy site of Rajput King Baba Balraj before joining a gathering of prominent local leaders. MP Satnam Singh Sandhu officially flagged off a grand procession that traversed through the town’s main areas, symbolizing the enduring legacy of the warrior.
During his address to the attendees, MP Sandhu stated that Maharana Pratap remains a definitive symbol of courage and self-respect for all Indians. He noted that the ruler’s life serves as a guide for standing firm on principles during periods of significant adversity.
“The unparalleled courage and unwavering spirit of the immortal warrior Maharana Pratap will continue to inspire generations,” Sandhu affirmed. He further declared that the great warrior chose a path of immense difficulty over surrendering his sovereignty, a feat that defines his place in medieval Indian history.
The event saw participation from several notable figures, including Balachaur MLA Santosh Kataria, BJP District President Rajwinder Singh Lucky, and Rajput Sabha President Bhupinder Singh Rana. The Rajput Sabha formally honored both the Governor and MP Sandhu during the proceedings.
MP Sandhu also drew parallels between the values of the Rajput warrior and the martyred heroes of Punjab. He asserted that the teachings of the Gurus have similarly inspired the people of Punjab to lead the nation in defense and sacrifice. He declared that celebrating such a legacy on the sacred land of Balachaur is a fitting tribute to a leader who prioritized the protection of the motherland over personal interest.
