New Delhi, October 22, 2024 — As many as 30 domestic and international flights operated by Indian airlines received bomb threats on Monday night, according to reports. The affected airlines included IndiGo, Vistara, and Air India, with authorities quickly stepping in to ensure passenger safety.

The wave of bomb threats follows over 120 similar incidents targeting Indian carriers in the past week.

IndiGo confirmed that four of its flights received security alerts: 6E 164 (Mangaluru to Mumbai), 6E 75 (Ahmedabad to Jeddah), 6E 67 (Hyderabad to Jeddah), and 6E 118 (Lucknow to Pune). “Passengers disembarked safely, and we closely coordinated with relevant authorities, following all standard operating procedures,” said an IndiGo spokesperson in a statement on Tuesday.

Similarly, Air India reported that several of its flights operating on Monday were subjected to security threats via social media. “We immediately alerted the authorities, and all necessary security protocols were followed under the guidance of regulatory bodies,” an Air India spokesperson said.

Vistara also confirmed receiving bomb threats on social media for some of its flights. “We are adhering to all security measures as directed by the authorities,” a Vistara spokesperson stated.

Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said that while these threats have so far been hoaxes, “they must be treated seriously.”

The government is considering legislative action, including adding perpetrators to the no-fly list, to address the growing concerns.

Security agencies continue to investigate the threats, and authorities have reassured the public that all necessary measures are in place to ensure the safety of passengers.
