Uniform Relief Framework Planned Across Punjab

Chandigarh, June 11: The Punjab Government is set to introduce a comprehensive state-wide policy aimed at permanently resolving the long-standing challenges faced by citizens who invested in plots within unauthorized colonies. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced the development during detailed discussions with residents of these areas on Wednesday, outlining a structural approach to address the legal and infrastructural problems left behind by unscrupulous developers.

The initiative aims to provide systematic support to thousands of innocent buyers who found themselves unable to register or sell their properties due to regulatory non-compliance by colonizers. The planned uniform policy will extend basic civic amenities, including electricity, water, and sewerage connections, to the affected areas, ensuring equal relief distribution across all districts rather than limiting the measures to major urban centers like Ludhiana or Patiala.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared that while the administration is fully committed to protecting genuine buyers who invested their savings due to a lack of awareness, strict legal actions will be initiated against fraudulent developers. The Chief Minister affirmed that rogue colonizers often misled ordinary citizens with false promises while concealing regulatory restrictions regarding civic sanctions, pocketing the profits and leaving families to handle the consequences.

To finalize the regulatory and structural framework, a dedicated meeting with senior administrative officials will be convened shortly to review the suggestions submitted by residents alongside pending legal and financial nuances. The Chief Minister asserted that the administration will carefully evaluate public feedback to ensure the development of a highly practical, long-term solution.

The state administration also advised prospective property buyers to exercise caution and perform diligent verifications prior to future real estate investments. Citizens are encouraged to verify that any housing or commercial project has received formal approval from competent authorities, such as the Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority or respective local development bodies, to safeguard their financial interests.
