Chandigarh, June 20: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared that the era of political parties taking turns to rule the state has ended, asserting that opposition leaders who betrayed the public trust will face legal accountability. Speaking at a massive Lok Milni gathering in Phagwara, the Chief Minister maintained that the traditional political forces are struggling for survival after decades of pursuing vested interests. He asserted that the political system is undergoing a thorough cleansing, which will eventually lead to the penalization of those responsible for past misdeeds.

The Chief Minister noted that the political landscape has shifted completely away from the era of mutual cooperation between traditional rival parties. He affirmed that previous administrations protected each other’s interests to conceal their administrative lapses. According to the Chief Minister, the current administration is focusing its resources entirely on public welfare, marking a departure from past governance models.

“Gone are the days when these parties used to play musical chairs and wait for their turn of power,” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated. He added that previous ruling factions safeguarded each other’s interests during their days in power due to which their misdeeds were never exposed. “However, now the people have elected the Aam Aadmi Party and the symbol of this party, the jhaadu, is cleansing the political system of the state. The day is not far when the Akalis will be behind bars for their sins,” the Chief Minister asserted.

Turning his attention to the state of the opposition, the Chief Minister declared that the Congress party is facing an imminent collapse due to severe internal friction. He described the party as a divided house lacking a coherent vision for the state’s progress. Concurrently, he criticized the Shiromani Akali Dal leadership for being disconnected from the ground realities of rural Punjab, stating that their past political maneuvers have alienated them from the masses.

The Chief Minister also shared that a development grant of over ₹18 crore has been sanctioned for the Phagwara Assembly segment to upgrade local infrastructure. To improve administrative efficiency, he directed the Deputy Commissioner to delegate more authority to the ADC Phagwara, ensuring residents can access government services locally without traveling to Kapurthala. Lok Sabha MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal and other prominent dignitaries attended the event.
