Ayodhya, June 26: Uttar Pradesh police have apprehended all eight individuals named in the First Information Report concerning the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The arrests were executed on Thursday night within Ayodhya following the initial findings of a state-appointed probe.

The enforcement action materialized after a Special Investigation Team, established by the Uttar Pradesh government to investigate the financial irregularities, submitted its preliminary report. The formal complaint initiating the probe was submitted by Krishna Mohan, who serves as a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

Law enforcement authorities clarified that the apprehended individuals were directly involved in processing and counting the cash and valuables contributed by devotees at the temple. “All the accused were in Ayodhya itself and were arrested on Thursday night. Further questioning is under way. Police are preparing to present them before a magistrate,” a senior official told PTI.

Legal proceedings have been initiated under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The charges leveled against the accused include Section 306 for theft by a clerk or servant, Section 316 regarding criminal breach of trust, Section 317 for dishonestly receiving stolen property, and Section 61, which pertains to criminal conspiracy. Senior officials affirmed that detailed interrogations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the mismanagement.
