Chandigarh, July 16: Ludhiana has secured the top position across Punjab by registering seven point four lakh beneficiaries under the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana. The state-wide footprint of the welfare initiative has reached a total of sixty eight point nine lakh registered beneficiaries, reflecting widespread coverage across various districts.
Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur stated that the administrative machinery has been working as a collective unit to drive the execution of this welfare initiative. The minister asserted that the robust enrolment in leading districts stems from a combination of larger population bases, efficient administrative channels, and enhanced public awareness regarding government welfare systems.
Following Ludhiana, Patiala stands second with five point three lakh enrolments, while Amritsar has recorded four point nine lakh beneficiaries. The official data further shows Jalandhar at four point eight lakh, Gurdaspur at four point four lakh, and Hoshiarpur at four point two lakh. Conversely, Malerkotla has reported the lowest engagement with one point three lakh registrations.
The significant surge in the leading areas is closely tied to high population density and substantial rural and economically weaker segments. These regions benefit from advanced local documentation infrastructure, including high rates of birth registration and accessible banking setups, which facilitate smoother application processing. Local administrations, utilizing the network of Anganwadi workers, have successfully managed the verification and registration pipeline to maximize reach.
