Ludhiana, July 21: Jamhuri Kisan Sabha Punjab organizing secretary Ragbir Singh Benipal declared that all three major toll plazas in Ludhiana district will remain toll-free for commuters for three hours on July 22. Speaking on the planned action, Benipal maintained that the demonstration at Ladowal, Chowkiman, and Ghulal toll plazas near Neelon aims to support the ongoing farmers’ agitation against the proposed India-US trade deal. He affirmed that the protest will be organized smoothly without causing road blockades or inconvenience to the general public.
The initiative is part of a broader state-wide strategy coordinated under the banner of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha Punjab chapter. Benipal stated that in districts lacking toll plazas, farm organizations will hold targeted demonstrations against the central government. Bharatiya Kisan Union Rajewal president Balbir Singh Rajewal affirmed that farm unions are actively consolidating unity among rural communities across the state, adding that symbolic gestures from central leadership will not address core grievances unless the proposed international trade agreement is withdrawn.
Rajewal asserted that farm leaders have convened an important state-level meeting in Chandigarh on July 24 to outline their future strategy. Questioning the restrictions placed on peaceful movement across state borders, the farm leader maintained that agricultural communities have every right to register their concerns democratically. He declared that union representatives will continue to press their demands through coordinated and peaceful measures until the administration addresses their core agricultural concerns.
