Chandigarh, August 17: Women across the Amargarh constituency turned out in large numbers to celebrate the festival of Teej at a cultural gathering organized by local MLA Prof. Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra.
The event featured vibrant folk songs, cultural performances, and traditional Punjabi attire, serving as a platform to highlight community perspectives on regional growth and social welfare. Attendees shared views on state programs, particularly pointing to the recently launched Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana which provides direct monthly financial assistance.
“First time, a government has prioritized the needs, dignity and rights of mothers and daughters,” declared participating women during discussions on economic support policies introduced earlier this year.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra stated that Teej represents far more than a seasonal festival, describing it as a celebration deeply tied to the happiness, dignity, and cultural heritage of Punjab’s women.
“The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is not only empowering women but also giving new momentum to development in villages and cities,” affirmed the legislator.
He maintained that infrastructure projects across the constituency continue to progress rapidly, including multi-crore initiatives aimed at delivering canal water to regional farmers. Participants expressed strong awareness of ongoing political and developmental work, noting that consistent administrative performance remains key to the region’s future trajectory.
