Chandigarh, Sept 1: Direct air connectivity between Dharamsala and Chandigarh resumed on Tuesday after IndiGo reinstated its non-stop flight service operating out of Gaggal Airport in Kangra. Flight 6E 7722 departed from Dharamsala at approximately 2:05 PM, marking the official return of the route following a temporary suspension caused by adverse weather conditions across the regional hill tracks.
Airport officials confirmed that the reinstated service will operate four days a week, with scheduled flights running on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Under the published timetable, the flight departs Dharamsala at 1:10 PM and arrives at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Chandigarh at 2:15 PM. The return flight leaves Chandigarh at 2:45 PM to reach Dharamsala by 3:50 PM, with initial one-way fares starting at approximately Rs 3,200.
Regional transport authorities affirmed that preparations are currently underway to expand direct air routes from Kangra to Jammu. Gaggal Airport officials stated that administrative and technical formalities for the proposed Jammu service are making steady progress, with operations expected to commence within a few months to enhance connectivity between Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
Air travel representatives declared that ongoing efforts aim to upgrade Gaggal Airport infrastructure to meet future passenger demands and international standards. Aviation officials noted that the restoration of the Chandigarh route strengthens Dharamsala’s existing flight network, which currently provides direct links to Delhi, Shimla, and Chandigarh.
