PATIALA: Major development for the architectural fraternity across the state, senior architect Pritpal Singh Ahluwalia has been elected Chairman of the Indian Institute of Architects Punjab Chapter. The Patiala resident and practicing architect secured the top leadership post by garnering 61 per cent of the total votes polled.
Ahluwalia, who actively practices in Mohali and Patiala while serving as a Director of Ludhiana Smart City Limited, will lead the new executive team representing the national body’s state division.
The state-wide online election saw democratic participation across centers in Ludhiana, Patiala, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Mohali, Bathinda, Kapurthala, and Hoshiarpur.
Alongside Ahluwalia, Dinesh Bhagat of Jalandhar was elected Vice Chairman, while Rajan Tangri of Ludhiana and Sanjay Kumar of Jalandhar secured the posts of Joint Secretary. R.S. Sandhu emerged victorious as Treasurer.
Ten executive members were also elected to the state body, including Ravinder Singh, Pooja Varmani, Sanchi Goyal, Prabhpreet Singh, and Simranjit Singh from Ludhiana; Rajinder Kaur and Amanjit Kaur from Mohali; and Rakesh Arora, Manisha Jindal, and Mohan Singh from Patiala.
In concurrent center-level elections, senior architect Indu Arora was elected Chairperson of the Patiala Center, with Sangeeta Rani becoming Vice-Chairperson and Sanjeev K. Goyal taking over as Honorary Treasurer. Rani Madhu, Harpreet Singh, and Bhavika Goyal were chosen as Executive Members for Patiala.
Addressing members after his victory, Chairman Ahluwalia expressed gratitude for the mandate, affirming that the new leadership will focus on professional development, inter-center coordination, and constructive collaboration with state authorities to strengthen the architectural profession and the built environment in Punjab.
