Chitrakoot: Addressing a gathering of 800 flood-affected families in Chitrakoot on Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized previous state administrations for failing to address natural disasters prior to 2017. The Chief Minister stated that earlier governments neglected flood-hit communities, alleging that disaster funds were diverted by political goons while victims received nominal assistance.
During the event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath contrasted historical disaster responses with current relief measures, noting that affected households now receive standardized 50-kilogram packages comprising 26 essential items, including food grains, cooking supplies, and dignity kits. He conducted an aerial survey of the damaged Mandakini River basin and distributed land allotment certificates alongside financial aid from the Disaster Relief Fund to families whose homes were destroyed.
Highlighting the cultural significance of Chitrakoot, the Chief Minister affirmed that the state government stands firmly with local residents, traders, and religious institutions recovering from unprecedented water levels. He noted that rapid mobilization of eight disaster response companies ensured zero human casualties despite heavy infrastructure damage, including the collapse of a key transport bridge connecting to Madhya Pradesh.
To address underlying causes, the Chief Minister announced plans to regulate unplanned construction in river catchment areas and ensure natural drainage flows. He confirmed that comprehensive surveys are underway to assess crop loss, repair damaged electrical infrastructure, and provide immediate financial support of 4 lakh rupees for accidental flood-related fatalities within 24 hours.
