VARANASI — Under the state’s ongoing zero-tolerance stance against illegal narcotics, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Varanasi unit arrested an active drug trafficker and seized 1 kg 20 grams of high-grade heroin valued at approximately Rs 2.10 crore. The accused, identified as Abhishek Sonkar, a resident of Jhoriya Jagdishpur Babatpur under the Phulpur police station area in Varanasi, was intercepted along the Godna Mor service road under Alinagar police station limits in Chandauli district.
Official statements from the Director General of Police office indicated that Sonkar was transporting the contraband toward Chandauli under the directions of an associate to deliver it to an intended contact. Interrogations revealed that the accused operates in tandem with a broader trafficking syndicate. Law enforcement authorities maintained that further investigations remain underway to uncover additional supply linkages and trace all individuals connected to the network.
